Position: Shop Volunteer (Till & Customer Service )

Shop Volunteer (Till & Customer Service – Cardigan)

Your local British Red Cross shop has a variety of activities available for volunteers to support us in. From sorting stock and preparing donated items for sale to providing great customer service to our donors and customers – we have something to suit most people’s interests. Our shop is a great place to learn new skills and share existing ones.

We are currently looking for Till & Customer Service volunteers to help us in our shop. If you have a positive outlook, enjoy speaking to new people and are confident in learning how to use a shop till, then this may be for you.

Responsibilities
  • Using the shop till to take payment for items
  • Promoting Gift Aid to maximise our fundraising potential
  • Helping and advising customers
  • Undertaking general activities in the shop
  • Creating exciting window displays

No experience is needed. Full training will be provided.

When can I volunteer?

A few hours during the week or weekend – as agreed with the shop manager. There is no minimum commitment or fixed hours; we only ask that you agree on hours you can attend and let us know if these change.

Benefits
  • Meet new people and be part of a dynamic and inclusive team
  • Gain or pass on retail experience
  • A great opportunity to use your existing skills or gain new ones
  • Reasonable pre‑agreed travel expenses for the role including for attending training
  • An opportunity to be part of the world’s largest humanitarian organisation and the knowledge that you are making a positive difference to people’s lives
Diversity & Inclusion

We welcome refugees, asylum seekers and others currently in the UK to volunteer with us. We celebrate diversity and want you to bring your authentic self to the Red Cross and feel that you belong. We want volunteering to be accessible to everyone.

Health and Safety

We take an individual approach to ensuring your safety. We may ask you to complete a simple risk assessment and we will have a conversation to discuss any adjustments you may need. In some locations we may not be able to host 15–17 year olds; please get in touch so we can help you find a suitable volunteering opportunity.

If you have any questions before applying, please contact us at voluntee
