Role Description The Lead Electrical Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in Carencro, LA. This role is responsible for leading electrical design activities for control systems projects, including developing drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts in accordance with industry standards and client specifications. The Lead Electrical Designer collaborates with manufacturing and field services teams to ensure designs are accurate, safe, and practical for installation and maintenance.

Daily responsibilities include reviewing project requirements, coordinating with project managers, performing and checking design work, and growing a department. The role also involves maintaining documentation, adhering to applicable codes and regulations, and mentoring team members on best practices in electrical design.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Electrical Design and practical application of Electricity in industrial control systems.
  • Applied knowledge of Electrical Engineering principles relevant to control panels, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Experience with Power Distribution design, including panel boards, motor control centers, and related equipment.
  • Understanding of Power Systems, including load calculations, short-circuit analysis, and protection coordination.
  • Proficiency with CAD or electrical design software and ability to produce clear, accurate drawings and documentation.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, IEC) and customer specifications.
  • Previous experience in industrial, oil and gas, or similar environments, including control systems and I&E projects.
  • Effective communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to lead and mentor design staff.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
