Butler Rose is recruiting on behalf of a well-established business in the Carlisle area for an experienced Senior Payroll Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong end-to-end payroll experience who is looking to join a supportive team where accuracy and customer service are valued.

As a Senior Payroll Assistant, you'll take ownership of payroll processes while supporting colleagues across the wider finance function.

• Processing end-to-end payroll accurately and on time
• Managing starters, leavers, and payroll amendments
• Calculating statutory payments, pensions, and deductions
• Handling employee payroll queries professionally and efficiently
• Maintaining accurate payroll records and ensuring HMRC compliance
• Producing payroll reports and supporting reconciliations
• Assisting with process improvements and supporting junior team members where required

• Previous experience in a Senior Payroll Assistant or Payroll role
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, and pensions
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Confident using payroll software and Microsoft Excel
• A proactive, team-focused approach with excellent communication skills
