Overview

A Tier 1 contractor delivering United Utilities AMP8 wastewater projects is seeking an experienced Freelance Civil Site Supervisor / Site Manager to support two key schemes: a major rising mains/shafts project in Carlisle and a mains replacement project in Whitehaven.

This role requires strong civils leadership, excellent safety management, and experience delivering water/wastewater infrastructure works.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day‑to‑day site operations across wastewater/civils projects.
Oversee construction activities on rising mains, shafts, and mains replacement works.
Lead and coordinate subcontractors and direct labour.
Ensure compliance with H&S procedures, RAMS, permits, and site audits.
Maintain progress against programme, reporting on productivity and issues.
Manage quality assurance, site documentation, and technical standards.
Liaise with the project team, client representatives, and stakeholders.
Support problem‑solving, risk mitigation, and delivery of project milestones.

Required Experience & Qualifications

SMSTS or SSSTS (essential)
Strong background in civils construction
Experience in wastewater / rising mains / pipelines / shafts / water infrastructure (ideally AMP frameworks)
Proven ability to manage subcontractors and site resources
Strong understanding of H&S management and site compliance
Good communication and organisational skills
Full UK driving licence
