Job Summary
Our department contributes to a robust teaching programme for doctors in training, foundation doctors, Physician Assistants and Surgical Care Practitioners. This is an opportunity to join an organisation where clinicians are at the forefront of colorectal management with opportunities to practice and expand the services offered and develop close working relationships with the management team.
Main DutiesWe are looking for an enthusiastic surgeon to join six other colorectal consultants and one SAS doctor to deliver elective and emergency colorectal and emergency general surgery services. These posts offer the chance to develop subspecialist interests, complement our current services and, for those interested in leadership and management, provide opportunities for development and training. We will work with you to shape your job plan upon appointment, review it after three months, and then annually.
Portfolio roles with academic posts, leadership and medical education, and essential resources including administrative support are also available.

- Essential Qualifications
- Valid Full Registration with the General Medical Council
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons or equivalent
- Relevant CCT, CESR or equivalent (equivalence confirmed by PMETB/GMC by AAC date)
- On the Specialist Register for the above or within six months of admission by AAC date
- Desirable Qualifications
- Other relevant medical and non‑medical training or degree
- MD or PhD degree
- Other relevant postgraduate qualification
- Essential Skills/Knowledge
- Expert opinion on clinical specialist problems in urology surgery
- Wide‑based knowledge of urology surgical conditions
- Full and independent responsibility for urology surgical patients

- Proven track record in research projects

- High level of clinical experience managing common urological surgical conditions
- Demonstrated surgical experience of index colorectal procedures and operations
