We are recruiting an Autism Educational Support Worker to provide high‑quality, learner‑centred support for children and young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC). The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting meaningful engagement, improving learning access, and supporting the social, emotional, and behavioural development of learners with diverse needs.

We’re looking for someone warm, patient, and reliable to join our team as an Autism Educational Support Worker. Your main job will be to help children and young people with autism feel comfortable, confident, and able to learn in school.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting learners in the classroom, in small groups, and sometimes one‑to‑one.
  • Using visual guides, routines, or communication tools to help learners understand what’s happening.
  • Noticing and responding to sensory needs so students can stay calm and focused.
  • Working closely with teachers, support staff, and families to keep everyone on the same page.
  • Keeping simple notes on progress, behaviour, or anything that helps shape future support.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive social skills.
Qualifications
  • Experience supporting children or young people with autism (in school, at home, or in the community).
  • A calm and friendly communicator who builds trust easily.
  • Someone who can stay steady during challenging moments and keep routines consistent.
  • A genuine interest in helping young people grow and succeed.
  • A commitment to keeping children safe.
Bonus
  • Any relevant training or qualifications (e.g., TA, autism training).
  • Experience in SEND or specialist settings.
  • Knowledge of things like TEACCH, PECS, or Attention Autism, but it’s not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position.
