Location: Carlisle area (to be discussed with the successful candidate)
Contract: Apprenticeship
Start Date: From September 2026 onwards
Apprenticeship Duration: Typically 33 to 41 months
Closing Date: 9th March 2026
Interviews: 30th March – 20th April 2026

We have an exciting opportunity for a Level 6 Trading Standards Professional apprentice. Kickstart your career working with an experienced and supportive team who’ll help you to develop a variety of skills and knowledge in investigative and enforcement work.
You’ll work across all areas of Trading Standards activity, including product safety, misleading descriptions, food standards, tackling illegal tobacco and vapes, counterfeit products, animal health and welfare, fair trading and weights and measures. The work is interesting and varied and gives you the chance to learn, develop and embark on a rewarding career path with Trading Standards. This is more than just a job, your work will have a real and lasting impact on communities across Cumberland.
We’d love to hear from you if you’re confident in verbal and written communication with a wide range of people, interested in law, investigations and consumer protection, highly organised with good attention to detail and keen to learn and take on new challenges. A full, clean UK driving licence is essential for this role.
Training Provider & StudyTraining Provider: To be confirmed
Study Method: A mix of workplace learning, practical training, online training sessions and independent study.
Off‑the‑Job Training: 20% of your working hours dedicated to structured learning.

Eligibility Checks: Training providers will carry out eligibility checks.
