Brook Street Primary School is looking to appoint a dedicated, passionate, knowledgeable and highly effective primary practitioner and school leader to join the school in January 2027 as Deputy Headteacher.

They will contribute to the strategic direction of the school, growth and development of colleagues, impact directly on outcomes for all pupils in all year groups, and develop their own knowledge and skills to propel them into headship should they wish.

Specific responsibilities can be tailored to the strengths of the successful candidate; the current post holder is a DDSL, writing and pupil premium lead, ECT and apprenticeship mentor, leads on behaviour and contributes to the development of teaching and learning.

This role also has a teaching commitment of up to 0.5

FTE that varies to meet the needs of the school, currently involving teaching in LKS2 for 2 days per week.

We are looking for somebody who can work alongside and support the Headteacher and champion the best interests of all children at our school.

The successful candidate should:

• Be a strong, effective and engaging classroom practitioner with experience across the primary phase.
• Have a proven record of securing good outcomes for pupils within their own classroom and across the school.
• Have a deep understanding of teaching and learning and be able to develop these skills in others.
• Be a strategic thinker with experience of whole school development.
• Be able to lead and inspire colleagues.
• Be an excellent communicator who can treat people with empathy and understanding.
• Have high levels of integrity, honesty, and personal responsibility.
• Believe in the transformational power of education.
