We are looking for a highly motivated team member to join our domestic team at Carlisle Healthcare, working 15 hours per week across five days, Mon-Fri. The role involves morning shifts from 5am to 8am at our Locke Road, Eastern Way surgery. Interviews will be held on 20th July.
Main duties of the jobThe role is responsible for maintaining a consistently high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the practice. This includes ensuring that clinical rooms, patient areas, staff facilities, and communal spaces are cleaned in accordance with established infection prevention protocols, health and safety requirements, and organisational procedures. The position contributes directly to a safe, welcoming, and well maintained environment for patients, visitors, and staff, thereby supporting the effective operation of the practice.

Job responsibilitiesGeneral cleaning duties including cleaning consultation rooms, waiting areas,reception, staff areas, toilets, and corridors.
Follow infection control procedures, including correct use of disinfectants and safe cleaning of clinical surfaces.
Dispose of general waste and recycling appropriately.
Restock various materials including soap, hand sanitisers, paper towels, toilet tissue and cleaning materials.
Maintain cleaning equipment and tools and reportany issues with equipment.
Report and cleaning supply shortages to support adequate cleaning material stock.
Carry out scheduled deep cleaning of clinical rooms, high touch areas, and communal spaces.
Follow COSHH guidelines, safe chemical handling and practice policies.
Notify the building manager of any maintenance concerns or hazards.
Person Specification Qualifications- Good standard of general education 5 GCSE including English and Maths or equivalent
- Infection control training
- Basic understanding of hygiene and infection control standards (training can be provided).
- Ability to follow health and safety procedures
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Good communication skills and a professional, reliable attitude
- Understanding of confidentiality
- Ability to perform manual tasks, including manual handling.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision
- Ability to manage own time
- Ability to manage own workload
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe handling of chemicals
- Flexibility to support additional cleaning during busy periods.
- Managing own time and workload

- Previous NHS cleaning experience
- Previous experience in a GP/Primary Care environment
- Experience with deep cleaning routines in clinical settings.
- Experience planning cleaning schedules or routines.
