Role Overview
Position: Technical Operator – Plant A (Shift
1)
Location: Carlisle, 54 Church Street, Cumbria, CA2 5TG
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 6am – 2pm and 2pm – 10pm
Salary: To be confirmed
This role involves operating machinery and ensuring product quality on the production line. The Technical Operator works closely with the ATM and Supervisor to maintain workflow and deliver products that meet the high quality standards of the company.
Key Responsibilities- Prioritise and agree allocation of tasks within the Technical Operator Team
- Carry out pre‑start checks and ensure production runs smoothly
- Maintain equipment and perform machine changeovers and adjustments to keep product consistency
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner
- Train peers and new operatives in equipment use and procedures when required
- Execute basic problem diagnosis and minor maintenance tasks
- Participate in tiered meetings and shift handovers following agreed agenda
- Communicate directly with relevant personnel to resolve any issues
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain daily factory standards safely
- Keep production line running efficiently and meeting agreed level of quality
- Resolve machine faults promptly and report issues to the supervisor
- Complete all changeovers and rework procedures to specification
- Maintain accurate production records in the system
Required:
- Basic numerical and literacy knowledge
- Manual dexterity and good physical stamina
- Basic communication skills and problem recognition
- Excellent teamwork and multitasking ability
- Positive attitude, initiative, and willingness to drive change
- Valued experience: prior manufacturing or industrial environment preferred but not mandatory
Desirable:
- Experience in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of HACCP and safe systems of work
- Understanding of zonal KPIs such as production targets, waste levels and line performance
