About the practiceEden Veterinary Centre is our small animal practice located in Carlisle;
Border Vets is our mixed practice located in Longtown, on the outskirts of the beautiful Lake District – just 30 minutes from the national park, Hadrian’s Wall, and the borderlands. The team at Eden & Border Vets has an inclusive, fun and supportive attitude. We treat clients’ pets as if they were our own, ensuring patients are relaxed and comfortable.
With a strong team of 9 vets, 8 registered veterinary nurses, 1 student veterinary nurse, 1 animal care assistant, a Director of Practice and highly skilled receptionists, CPD and professional development are encouraged in all disciplines. The practice is also a nurse training practice.
We have a new small animal hospital premises as of Q1 2026, featuring two purpose‑designed operating theatres, advanced laparoscopic and orthopaedic capabilities, a large prep room, a dental room with X‑ray, signal‑pet AI, and ultrasound. A well‑equipped lab supports a high cytology caseload. The mixed practice facilities include ovacyte and mastatest, a full Idexx laboratory, ultrasonic scanners for both animal sizes, and a bull semen kit.
Responsibilities- Work a 40‑hour week, starting with a 5‑day week and moving to a 4‑day week when you join the OOH rota.
- Participate in out‑of‑hours duties: a manageable 1‑in‑4 weekend shift and one weeknight on‑call.
- Begin with shadowing and familiarisation, progressing to supported surgeries, consultations and farm visits.
