We sell the entire NFU Mutual product range and are a business that has honesty, integrity and trust at the core of our values. We champion the personal approach to customer service that NFU Mutual is famous for.

Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has now arisen within the Carlisle Agency.

About the Role

We are looking for a friendly and motivated Customer Service & Sales Adviser to join our growing team in Carlisle. You'll be at the heart of our Agency, providing excellent service to both new and existing customers. No two days are the same, with a varied mix of customer enquiries, policy administration, sales conversations and general office support. Whether speaking to customers on the phone, welcoming them into the office or handling enquiries electronically, you'll take time to understand their needs and provide a professional and personal service.

Alongside delivering excellent customer care, you'll identify opportunities to introduce customers to products and services that may be of benefit to them. Working as part of a supportive team, you'll help build long-term customer relationships and ensure our customers receive the high standards of service for which NFU Mutual is known.

About you

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service. You may already have experience in insurance, banking, retail, customer service, administration or sales, but just as important is a positive attitude, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. You'll have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A friendly, professional and customer-focused approach
  • Confidence speaking with customers face-to-face, over the phone and in writing
  • Good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload
  • A proactive approach and the confidence to identify sales opportunities where appropriate
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
  • The ability and desire to learn new systems, products and skills
  • Previous insurance experience would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
Our commitment to you

We want our people to succeed and enjoy their careers with us. From day one you'll receive comprehensive training, ongoing support and access to a knowledgeable and experienced team. We'll help you develop your technical knowledge, build your confidence and provide opportunities for continued professional development as your career progresses. You'll be given the support, tools and encouragement needed to achieve your potential.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary dependent on experience
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Additional holiday entitlement with length of service
  • Employer pension contribution
  • Full training and ongoing professional development
  • Free on-site parking
  • Friendly, supportive and professional working environment

Closing date for all applications: 24th September 2026

NB You will be employed by an Agency of NFU Mutual and not by NFU Mutual directly.
