Transport Planner

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Transport Planner to join our Transport Team for the Carlisle site. As a Transport Planner you will be contributing to the success of the transport team, you will be responsible for completing and overseeing the day-to-day planning function of the transport operation. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will be experienced at working in a quick and fast-paced environment and be able to deal with day to day challenges in providing an effective transport plan.

Working hours: Monday to Friday days 08:00 - 18:00

Key Duties of a Transport Planner:

• Work with the Carlisle Transport, Central and Network teams, to create an efficient transport plan using the latest TMS.
• Planning orders from multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK.
• Planning on a time critical basis to achieve customer performance targets.
• Reporting problems and dealing with issues and any queries that may arise.
• Maintaining and exceeding agreed KPI’s.
• Proactively look for continuous improvements.
• Be able to make decisions under pressure and to a tight timescale.
• Have a flexible and adaptable approach to working in order to meet the requirements of the business particularly at peak periods during the year.
• Efficiently utilise the Stobart and Culina Group networks for support when volumes dictate.

• Good geographical knowledge of the UK
• Proficient in computer literacy including Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Work and Outlook
• CPC Desirable but not required
• Experience of planning 20+ tractor units across multiple depots
• Excellent communication skills and ability to succeed in a pressurised environment
• Able to collaborate effectively within a team environment while also demonstrating initiative and accountability when working independently.
• Customer focus on delivery performance
• Commercially and Financially astute and driven to deliver exceptional results.
• Experience of using a TMS system
• Strong analytical and excel capability across standard formulas
