Reed Business Support Lancaster and Cumbria are currently exclusively representing our client based in Carlisle with the recruitment of a Transport Coordinator role due to an internal promotion within the team.

    Carlisle
  • Job Type: Full-time, Office-based
  • Hours:

    Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week (rolling shift pattern changing on a weekly basis – earliest start time for shift is 07:30am latest is 08:30am)
  • Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 per annum + Excellent Benefits

The transport Coordinator will play a crucial role in planning and managing transport solutions across the business. This position is ideal for someone with experience in transport or logistics planning, looking to advance their career in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Efficiently plan and allocate daily multi-site collections and deliveries, ensuring successful completion.
  • Monitor load status and communicate through the network to ensure transport meets customer deadlines.
  • Respond promptly to stock readiness and collaborate with the customer service team to meet special requests and orders.
  • Manage notifications for bookings and late deliveries, and retrieve customer PODs as needed.
  • Handle transport-related complaints, including reporting, processing, and follow-up.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with customers, hauliers, and suppliers.
  • Analyse and interpret delivery data to produce KPI reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review and monitor daily transport costs for each site, ensuring cost-effective planning.
  • Maximise load utilisation across sites and develop processes to enhance future delivery operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in transport or logistics planning, or as a transport planning administrator.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with transport planning tools.
  • Strong analytical skills for reviewing delivery data.
  • Ability to solve problems and work under pressure in a busy environment.
  • High level of organisational skills, attention to detail, and administrative experience.
  • Customer-focused attitude with flexibility.
  • Experience with Paragon Planning & routing tool (advantageous but not essential).
  • Understanding of drivers' working time directives (advantageous but not essential).
