Work as part of a world‑class photonics team that integrates Cisco’s silicon photonics into an automated, high‑volume packaging line. The line uses in‑house designed assembly and test tools, providing opportunities to improve processes from photonic chip design to optical assembly, including fiber, light sources, and optical components. Advanced testing and data collection allow insight into material–process interactions that drive product quality and manufacturing capability.

• Lead teams to resolve yield and defectivity issues related to final integration of photonic components.
• Help define and improve design rules (e.g., design for manufacturing) for silicon photonics assembly.
• Collaborate with tool and development engineers to understand complex interactions during integration.
• Build dashboards and monitors to track yields, defectivity, and quality issues, and direct improvement efforts.
• Present findings to team with clear written and verbal communication.

You will work with the core engineering team responsible for developing Cisco’s high‑volume silicon photonics platform.

We look for an engineer or scientist with experience in fiber‑optic transceivers, optics, optical packaging, and fiber‑optic components.

• Bachelor’s + 8 years related experience, Master’s + 6 years, or PhD + 3 years.
• Demonstrated experience in fiber‑optic transceivers, optics, optical packaging, or fiber‑optic components.
• Industrial experience.

• Advanced problem‑solving skills.
• High‑volume production experience.
• Optical transceiver design/test experience.
• Laser fabrication experience.

Salary range: $148,800 – $212,900. U.S. employees receive medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with matching, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and life insurance. Holidays, vacation, sick days, and volunteer time are all paid.
