Director Trade Compliance TCRS

The Director Trade Compliance is responsible for leading and overseeing the organization’s global import and export compliance programs. This role ensures adherence to all applicable international trade laws and regulations, including ITAR, EAR, and customs requirement while developing the global trade strategy.
This is a hybrid position based near Carlsbad, CA. Relocation assistance is available.
EXPECTATIONS- Lead global import and export compliance programs aligned with CBP and EAR/ITAR regulations
- Oversee export licensing activities - DSP-5, Commerce licenses, and Technical Assistance Agreements
- Manage import compliance including classification, valuation, country of origin, and FTA qualification
- Direct product classification and jurisdictional analysis under ITAR and EAR
- Drive strategy to duty remediation programs, FTZ, duty drawback, reconciliation, etc.
- Monitor trade laws and regulations, incorporating changes and providing leadership updates
- Conduct audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance and identify gaps and corrective actions
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures with trade compliance review and expertise
- Provide trade compliance guidance and support to cross-functional teams
- Lead, mentor, and develop a global trade compliance team
- Bachelor’s degree in international business or a related field
- Licensed Customs Broker
- 10+ years of experience in trade compliance
- Solid understanding of U.S. and international trade laws (HTS, County of Origin, FTA, valuation, etc)
- In depth knowledge of ITAR, EAR, including using DECCS, SNAP R
- Familiar with ACE, ERP systems, and other trade related software applications
- Experience supporting audits, investigations, and regulatory inquiries
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent communication and servant leadership skills
- Ability to provide hands-on operations support and drive long term strategy
