OverviewFrontgrade is seeking a Portfolio Manager to oversee the strategic alignment, prioritization, and performance of programs and projects within the business portfolio. The Portfolio Manager will ensure effective execution and delivery of portfolio objectives by balancing resource capacity, financial targets, and strategic goals. This role will partner closely with program and project managers, business leaders, and functional stakeholders to drive portfolio governance, optimize performance, and maintain alignment with corporate strategy.
Responsibilities- Support the alignment of portfolio priorities with organizational and strategic business objectives.
- Build and maintain prioritization frameworks and tools within the Project Web Application (PWA) to ensure transparent decision-making.
- Partner with Program and Project Managers to ensure effective execution, schedule performance, and risk management across all portfolio elements.
- Contribute to portfolio-level governance processes, ensuring adherence to PMO standards, methodologies, and best practices.
- Track and report on overall portfolio health, including financial and schedule performance, technical performance, and customer satisfaction.
- Support proactive identification, tracking, and mitigation of portfolio-level risks; align integrated master schedules (IMS) to mitigation actions.
- Manage portfolio-level resource capacity planning at baseline and on a recurring (monthly/quarterly) basis across all sites.
- Act as liaison between project teams, senior management, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure transparency, alignment, and informed decision-making.
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of portfolio management practices and continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO organization.
- Support program execution by attending customer meetings, on-site visits, and site specific training, requiring up to 25% domestic travel.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline
- A minimum of 8 years of related experience in program, project, or portfolio management within a technically driven industry;
- Or Six (6) years of experience with a Master’s Degree;
- Or Twelve (12) years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated experience managing or supporting portfolios or programs exceeding $5M in scope.
- Strong understanding of project and portfolio management methodologies, financial planning, and performance reporting.
- Experience in cross-functional stakeholder engagement and governance facilitation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Power BI, PowerPoint, Visual Basic, Excel, and portfolio management tools (e.g., PWA or equivalent).
- PMP, PfMP, or PMI certification in project or portfolio management.
- Experience with in a DoD, aerospace, or defense manufacturing environment.
- Proven success managing multi-program portfolios to achieve on-time, on-budget, and on-scope delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and influence program and project leaders across diverse teams.
- This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by either ITAR or EAR U.S. export laws. As a condition to this job offer, in order to be employed in this position, you must be able to obtain an U.S. Government export license(s), as required by law.
