Education- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential (required). The employee must obtain the CDA within 6 months of employment. If the CDA is not obtained, employment may be terminated.
- Previous early childcare experience preferred
- Bilingual – Spanish
- Protect the physical and mental health and safety of our children and ensure no child is left unsupervised.
- Assist in creating an organized learning environment that promotes healthy development and skill growth aligned with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework for ages birth to five, including children with disabilities and dual language learners.
- Support the implementation of prescribed curricula for developmentally appropriate learning in language, literacy, social, emotional, math, science, social studies, creative arts, and physical development, and integrate child assessment data into planning.
- Help support screenings, assessments and ongoing evaluation of the child’s developmental progress.
- Encourage and facilitate opportunities for parents and family members to engage in their child’s development and program services.
- Maintain child safety during all activities, report suspected or known child abuse and neglect, supervise children at all times, and adhere to conduct standards.
- Maintain positive adult‑child interactions as measured by the CLASS Pre‑K instrument.
- Participate in staff development and complete minimum training requirements per state and federal standards, ongoing professional development, and staff wellness initiatives.
- Support classroom activities as directed by the teacher and assist with transitions.
- Support the use of age‑appropriate equipment, materials, supplies, and physical space.
- Communicate child observations to teachers and identify potential developmental concerns.
- Coordinate with education, family, mental health and/or child development professional staff to address identified needs.
- Support school functions, scheduled meetings, team decision and operations.
- Maintain confidentiality in all areas of child and program operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Respond promptly to classroom requests for support and comply with regulations, policies, and protocols.
- Maintain regular communication with teachers regarding student behavior and progress.
- Ensure the classroom is free from hazards.
- Report incidents within the designated time frames.
- Respond sensitively and competently to the cultural and socio‑economic characteristics of the service population.
- Communicate in English;
Spanish (preferred). - Maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all Innovative Network of Knowledge policies and procedures.
- Organize and prioritize duties in a fast‑paced environment.
