Overview
Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste. Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Mine Senior Surveyor and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Responsibilities- Provide technical expertise to the SIMCO Surveying Program.
- Plan, schedule, and oversee underground and surface surveying jobs.
- Process survey data and present data as appropriate.
- Train SIMCO surveyors on equipment, software, data processing, and data presentation.
- Maintain survey job and data files so data and jobs are easily retrievable.
- Maintain underground and surface horizontal and vertical control point network.
- Maintain surveying equipment and software.
- Develop and maintain surveying program procedures.
- Assist surveyors with surface and underground tasks.

- Bachelor's of Science in Mine Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Surveying with two (2) years of underground surveying experience, or
- Associate's in a related discipline with six (6) years of underground surveying experience, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalency with ten (10) years of underground surveying experience.
- Familiarity with modern survey equipment including electronic levels, total stations, laser scanner and GPS equipment.
- Experience with surveying and drafting software packages used for processing and managing survey data records.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Requirements- Working knowledge of mine surveying using laser and other electronic processes.
- Experience with Leica equipment and software.
- Experience with Carlson Mining Software.
- Experience in salt type deposits and familiarity with the dependent nature of salt and knowledgeable about its impacts on surveying.
- Licensed Surveyor.
- Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.

Exempt grade level(s): 30-32. Minimum salary $80,609 per year; final offered salary depends on experience and education.
