Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste. Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Level II Startup Test Engineer and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

• Prepare testing documentation and manage the execution of startup testing.
• Plan and supervise inspection, examination, and testing activities.
• Evaluate the validity of testing results and assist in writing procedures.
• Coordinate with other organizations in the development and performance of startup tests.
• Communicate progress and issues to project management and other stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols.
• Continuously improve processes and procedures to ensure efficient and effective completion of testing activities.

• Bachelor's degree with two (2) years of experience in testing, commissioning, or related role, or
• Associate's degree with six (6) years of experience in testing, commissioning, or related role.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Currently qualified or able to qualify as a Level II Startup engineer.
• Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

• WIPP or other DOE experience.

Exempt grade level(s) 30‑34. Minimum salary $80,609 per year with a larger salary range. The specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
