Overview
Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Security Police Officer in Carlsbad, New Mexico. This position is part of the nation's only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will serve as a Security Police Officer in support of Protective Force operations at the Department of Energy Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. Provide physical security for a nuclear facility to include protection of nuclear/radiological materials, employees and visitors, government property, and sensitive information. Respond to security and non-security related incidents, interface and coordinate with other first-responders. Investigate security-related incidents and interview witnesses, reporting persons, and victims, and complete detailed Security Incident Reports.
Conduct vehicle and foot patrols and detect unusual activities; control and search materials, vehicle and pedestrian traffic and restrict access to those without proper identification and access authorization. Operate government vehicles, communications equipment, camera systems, and other special purpose security equipment and systems. Enforce standards of conduct and adherence to laws, orders, and regulations. Ensure that daily administrative documentation is kept concise and complete at all times;
maintain all daily assigned equipment in functional and presentable condition. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.
- High School Diploma or Equivalency is required.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must have a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
- Must have practical experience and be proficient in software applications such as MS Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Outlook.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
Preferred Requirements- Bachelor’s degree.
- Active Top Secret or Q security clearance.
- Two (2) years of military, Security, and/or Law Enforcement experience.

Pay rate is $36.55 per hour.
