International Minerals Carlsbad LLC is seeking a safety-focused Mine Belt Person to support the operation and reliability of its underground conveyor system. This position is responsible for inspecting, repairing, maintaining, and cleaning underground conveyors and related equipment.
The Mine Belt Person will identify and correct safety hazards, service mobile equipment, and assist with conveyor installations and advances. The ideal candidate has underground belt experience, understands safe rigging techniques, and demonstrates sound judgment, initiative, dependability, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
Essential Responsibilities- Inspect, maintain, repair, and clean underground conveyor systems.
- Identify and correct safety hazards and equipment concerns within assigned work areas.
- Troubleshoot conveyor-system problems and complete required repairs.
- Perform belt splicing and related conveyor maintenance activities.
- Assist with conveyor installations, extensions, advances, and equipment relocation.
- Inspect belt components and report wear, damage, misalignment, or other operating concerns.
- Service mobile equipment used by the belt crew.
- Use safe and appropriate rigging techniques when moving or positioning equipment and materials.
- Operate belt tractors, mantrips, forklifts, lubrication vehicles, and hydraulic boom vehicles when qualified.
- Use belt-splicing equipment, mechanical hand tools, power tools, and other approved maintenance equipment.
- Maintain safe, clean, and orderly underground work areas.
- Follow work instructions and learn new equipment, processes, and procedures.
- Monitor operating conditions and respond appropriately to changing maintenance requirements.
- Plan and organize assigned work while exercising sound independent judgment.
- Complete required records and communicate equipment or safety concerns to supervisors and coworkers.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment and follow company safety rules and procedures.
- Encourage crew members to comply with established safety requirements.
- Perform additional underground mine-service duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, GED, or trade school education.
- Knowledge of underground conveyor systems and belt-maintenance practices.
- Ability to demonstrate safe and effective rigging techniques.
- Ability to recognize, evaluate, and manage hazards associated with an underground mine environment.
- Ability to use belt-splicing tools, mechanical hand tools, and other equipment required for the position.
- Ability to read, write, follow instructions, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to analyze operating conditions, monitor equipment, and learn new processes and procedures.
- Strong planning, scheduling, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Demonstrated initiative, dependability, and commitment to maintaining clean and safe work areas.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an underground mine-service team.
- At least three years of underground belt or conveyor-system experience.
- Experience performing underground belt splicing, repair, and preventive maintenance.
- Experience assisting with conveyor installations and belt advances.
- Experience servicing or operating underground mobile equipment.
- Experience operating forklifts, belt tractors, mantrips, lubrication vehicles, or hydraulic boom vehicles.

- Lifting and moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Frequently stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, and balancing.
- Climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and expanded-metal walkways.
- Occasionally working from elevated platforms or baskets up to 100 feet above ground level.
