We are a family‑owned Toyota dealership located in Wood‑Ridge, NJ, operating a high‑volume service department with approximately 1,500 customer‑pay repair orders per month, plus warranty work. We are expanding into a new, state‑of‑the‑art service facility and investing heavily in people, process, and technology. Our shop is staffed with factory‑trained and certified technicians, and we are committed to raising efficiency, diagnostic accuracy, and overall technician performance.
Position OverviewThe Shop Foreman / Technical Lead role is designed for an experienced, senior‑level technician who is ready to move into a leadership position and focus on guiding, mentoring, and improving the performance of the entire shop. This role is not a full‑time wrench‑turning position. While hands‑on diagnostic assistance may be required when needed, the primary focus is on technical leadership, productivity, accountability, and technician development.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the top technical resource for complex diagnostic concerns.
- Assist technicians with advanced diagnostic strategy and problem‑solving.
- Ensure all repairs meet Toyota factory standards and quality expectations.
- Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, and workflow.
- Identify opportunities to improve shop throughput and utilization.
- Work with service management to support fair dispatching and job flow.
- Mentor and coach technicians to improve skill level and confidence.
- Support ASE and Toyota certification advancement.
- Help elevate technicians toward expert‑level capability.
- Hold technicians accountable for proper diagnostic processes and repair quality.
- Review comebacks and repeat repairs; implement corrective coaching.
- Promote professionalism, consistency, and pride in workmanship.
- Senior or Master‑level technicians ready to step into leadership.
- Experienced technicians who want to reduce physical wrench‑turning.

- Extensive automotive technician experience (Toyota experience strongly preferred).
- Toyota Master Certification strongly preferred.
- ASE Master Certification preferred.
