Job overview:
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join our forward-thinking surgical team as a Consultant Laparoscopic General Surgeon with a specialist interest in Upper GI surgery.

This is a dual-site post:

• Base and emergency on-call at Glangwili General Hospital
• Elective surgical activity at Withybush General Hospital, home to a JAG-accredited Endoscopy Unit

We are seeking a motivated, dynamic consultant who enjoys working in a supportive rural district general hospital setting, delivering high-quality care across a broad range of general surgical conditions.

There is one permanent post available, offered under the Consultant Contract (Wales) with an optional 10-session (37.5 hours) working week.

The successful candidate will:

• Deliver safe, high-quality clinical care across General Surgery, with a focus on Upper GI and laparoscopic surgery
• Participate in the emergency general surgery on-call rota (1:8)
• Undertake elective procedures at Withybush General Hospital, including within a JAG-accredited endoscopy service
• Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior medical staff
• Contribute to a multidisciplinary team environment, supporting service development and innovation
• Support delivery of RTT and Standard Cancer Pathway (SCP) targets
• Engage in teaching, training and educational supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate learners
• Participate in clinical audit, governance, and quality improvement initiatives
• Work collaboratively with primary care and community teams to enhance patient pathways
• Maintain continuing professional development and revalidation requirements
