Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Mentoring support to targeted individual learners;
  • Undertake referral and assessment procedures;
  • Complete and maintain relevant internal documentation and IT systems so that impact and interventions are measurable;
  • Contribute to the college work on safeguarding in line with the policy and reporting processes;
  • Attend and participate in any relevant internal meetings such as disciplinary hearings, learner reviews, caseload meetings, team meetings etc where applicable;
  • Attend and participate in any external meetings such as Child Protection Conferences etc where applicable;
  • Develop, facilitate and deliver enrichment activities on campus for learners;
  • Promote positive behaviour in line with college values of Be Ready, Be Respectful and Be Safe;
  • Develop, facilitate and deliver transition activities aimed at supporting learners into college;
  • Promote and support the wider Learner well-being priorities across the college such as Learner Voice, Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding and Wellbeing, Cariad, Peer Mentoring, Employability, Volunteering, etc;
  • Liaise with internal departments including other services within Learner Support, Learning Support, Curriculum Areas, Transport etc;
  • Liaise with external partners and stakeholders to provide effective support and signposting;
  • Provide remote support to learners as and when required, including on occasions to learners across all campuses;
  • Liaise with colleagues, external support providers and students families where appropriate to ensure you contribute effectively to an overall package of support for your students;
  • Support learners to attend organised off-campus visits where applicable;
  • Attend relevant training and maintain own CPD records;
Skills Knowledge and Expertise Welsh Language Requirements
  • Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking)
    - Level 2
  • Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading)
    - Level 2

Essential Criteria
  • Counselling Skills Qualification
  • ASIST Certified
  • Youth Mental Health First Aid Certified
  • GCSE English at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
  • GCSE Mathematics at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
  • Relevant experience of working with young people with a range of learning and personal support needs
  • Good communicator with diplomacy and tact
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work harmoniously with colleagues
  • Good presentational skills
  • Ability to relate to target group

If you do not have the above qualifications you will be expected to complete/achieve within 1 year from appointment

Desirable Criteria
  • Qualification at Level 3 or above
  • Good computer literacy skills
