Specialist Eating Disorders Team Support Worker

An opportunity has arisen within our Specialist Children and Adolescence Mental Health (SCAMHS) Eating Disorder (ED) Service for an experienced and enthusiastic Health Care Support Worker to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary team to help deliver a high quality effective service to children and young people with Eating Disorders and their carers/families working across Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.

You will be joining an experienced, multi-disciplinary team of nurses, psychotherapists,dietitians and medical staff. Although, you will be part of the Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, you will work closely with colleagues in Adult Mental Health Services, Adult Primary and Secondary Mental Health Services to ensure thatindividuals experience a seamless and co-ordinated approach to their care.

As part of our multidisciplinary eating disorder service, you will deliver high-quality, specialist care and therapeutic support to individuals, families and carers in line with personalised care plans. You will continually assess needs, monitor progress and contribute to the team's overall clinical formulation, playing an active role in planning care and promoting recovery-focused outcomes. You will act as the named healthcare clinician, supporting service users through transitions and reporting any increase in risks to senior staff while contributing to effective risk management strategies within your own allocated caseload.

You will be required to make autonomous clinical decisions where appropriate--such as identifying deterioration in physical health and seeking urgent medical support--and will work directly with patients, families and carers to enhance health, wellbeing, social engagement and access to education or employment opportunities. Require the ability to build rapport and maintain safe, therapeutic relationships, delivering both individual and group-based interventions, including structured activities that promote social and leisure participation.

You will also be expected to manage your own workload, exercise sound clinical judgement and work independently when required, ensuring high standards of care and consistent support for those accessing the service.

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.

We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

  Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire;
  Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
• Two integrated care centres:
  Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
• 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
• Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services

• NVQ level 3 plus additional training to diploma level or equivalent through short courses and experience in the field of mental health.
• Knowledge and understanding of the client group with whom the post holder will be working
• Demonstrate experience of attending related training in eating disorders within SCAMHS

• Previous experience of working with patients within a health or social care setting
• Experience of working within S CAMH's and/or adult mental health services
• Experience of audit and research
