Key responsibilities and expectationsThis role involves working as a social worker for children, young people and families. The post holder will be based in Carmarthen and will work regionally, supporting the Adoption Mid & West Wales service. Responsibilities include family finding for children with adoption plans, recruiting and assessing prospective adopters, post‑adoption support, birth parent support, post‑adoption contact, birth records and intermediary work. The role requires participation in pre‑ and post‑approval training to adopters, and ongoing professional development in adoption practice and trauma‑informed practice.
Qualificationsand experience
Applicants must hold a Social Work qualification and have experience working with children, young people and families in a social care role. A basic conversational Welsh language ability (Level
2) is required; reasonable support will be provided.

The role is eligible for progression beyond pay point £42,839 up to the maximum of £47,181, subject to a progression panel assessment under the Authority’s ‘Social Work Experienced Practitioner Progression Framework’.
