Seeking adjunct faculty to teach Public Speaking / Oral Communication on campus in Spring Arbor and/or via online. Assignments for courses in future semesters available.
Spring Arbor University is seeking a dynamic individual to teach oral communication/public speaking courses in the Department of Communication. The successful candidate will be passionate about preparing students to impact the world for Jesus Christ within the vocation and/or practice of Communication and Public Speaking. Spring Arbor University is a community of learners distinguished by our lifelong involvement in the study and application of the liberal arts, total commitment to Jesus Christ as the perspective of learning, and critical participation in the contemporary world.
The successful candidate will be able to articulate how they would integrate the Christian faith into their discipline and will be someone who enjoys working with students. Individuals will exhibit a life and service that is in full accord with the Spring Arbor University Concept, Statement of Faith, and Community Covenant. Applicants must be thoroughly supportive of the University’s mission and values as an evangelical Christian University affiliated with the Free Methodist Church.
The successful candidate will be skilled in the areas of speech writing, delivery, audience analysis, use of visual aids and multimedia in speaking, and an understanding of speech apprehension. A Master’s degree in Communication or related area is required. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree and significant professional experience in the field may also be considered. Teaching experience in a traditional campus environment is strongly preferred for campus courses;
experience with online teaching is preferred for online courses.
Experience working in multicultural academic environments is preferred, and individuals from diverse populations are encouraged to apply.
