Patient Access Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Patient Access Specialist to support front-end patient operations and ensure a smooth registration and intake experience. This role is responsible for greeting patients, verifying insurance, collecting demographic and financial information, scheduling appointments, and helping maintain accurate records. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, healthcare administrative experience, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Hours:

Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

Key Responsibilities:

+ Greet patients and provide professional, friendly service during registration and check-in

+ Obtain, verify, and update patient demographic, insurance, and financial information

+ Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments as needed

+ Explain forms, policies, and procedures to patients and families

+ Collect copayments and assist with payment-related questions

+ Ensure accurate data entry in electronic medical record and patient access systems

+ Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to support patient flow

+ Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies

+ Resolve patient inquiries and escalate complex issues when appropriate

+ Support records management, scheduling, and other administrative duties as assigned

Requirements

+ High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred

+ 1+ years of experience in patient access, medical front desk, healthcare administration, or a related role

+

Experience with insurance verification, patient registration, and scheduling

+ Familiarity with electronic medical records;
Epic experience preferred

+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

+ Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

+ Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment
