Schedule / Job TypeContract | 12-hour Day Shifts | Shift start 6:45 AM | Every other weekend required | Holidays rotate with core staff | Overtime and extra shifts may be available
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive nursing care across all aspects of Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby, and postpartum within a Family Birthing Center (LDRP unit)
- Manage patient ratios of 1:2 in L&D, 1:1 during active delivery, and 1:4 for Mother/Baby couplets
- Participate in C-section support in the OR, with two RNs circulating — one assigned to the mother and one to the baby — with recovery room coverage
- Read and interpret EKG/telemetry strips as required by the unit
- Care for a high-risk patient population including term, preterm, and antepartum patients
- Float to other facilities within the Sacramento area as needed, including potential mid-shift floats
- Active RN license valid in California
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required — copy must be provided at time of submittal
- Must be able to perform all aspects of L&D, Mother/Baby, and postpartum care
- Prior travel nursing experience required — first-time travelers will not be considered
- Must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility associated with the Common Spirit health system, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year (candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms may be considered)
- Must be available to work two of the three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's)
- If placed on call, must be able to respond and arrive on-site within 30 minutes
- Ability to perform in the NRP role and experience catching/delivering babies is highly preferred
- STABLE certification preferred
- Experience with Cerner EMR
- Experience with high-risk obstetric and antepartum patient populations
- Work within a well-supported unit featuring 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy, on-site hospitalist or intensivist coverage, and strong breastfeeding support resources
- Flexible scheduling with self-scheduling access from home, the ability to pick up extra shifts, and schedules posted four weeks in advance
