Formulation Scientist I plans, organizes, and completes Solutions Formulation projects, along with increased customer visibility and a further role in internal processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Design simple formulations and create technical documents.
- Work with the R&D sample lab on any scale-up projects that they may have.
- Learn and understand R&D’s role in the first batch approvals process for sample and commercial batches.
- Work with the Senior Formulation Scientist/R&D Manager as a back-up for large customers.
- Enter and manage data for continuous improvement.
- Learn and help with work order review and process change control.

Education and/or Experience
- BS/BA Degree in Food Science/Nutrition/Chemistry preferred.
- AS/AA in a science or mathematics field or equivalent coursework with 2+ years’ experience in a formulations role at a blending company in a science-related field.
- Either have process flow and design experience or have production blending experience (both are preferred).
- Working understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Experience with reading and working with work orders and technical documentation.
- Must have competence in analytical or mathematical calculations, especially those in stoichiometric and/or scale-up processes.
- Able to use wet chemical lab equipment, including but not limited to lab scales.
- Able to manage small projects by themselves or with a team.
Light travel.
Work Conditions &Physical Requirements
- Ability to view a computer screen and type for extended hours.
- Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require.
