Overview
Join to apply for the Driver, Per Diem role at Covenant Living of Colorado.
Responsibilities- Transport residents to and from scheduled and emergency appointments and provide transportation for campus activities and group trips as schedule allows; transportation may be for days, evenings, or weekends.
- Operate the assigned vehicles under various road and weather conditions in a safe and efficient manner.
- Prioritize safety and comfort of residents in vehicle operation.
- Communicate with the receptionist to determine time and place for initial pickup of each rider.
- Aid in safe transfer to and from the vehicle when conditions warrant special assistance.
- Use mobile telephone safely to receive pickup reports and plan driving routes (Bluetooth or speakerphone).
- Communicate problems or issues related to transportation, including incidents and changes in resident condition.
- Check lights, gauges, switches, and perform safety checks; clean mirrors, windows, and lights to ensure unobstructed vision.
- Handle various errands for office staff involving transportation.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Six months of related driving experience with knowledge of local and surrounding roads.
- Valid CDL driver’s license in the state with an excellent driving record.
- If driving a campus bus, a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License in good standing.
- Knowledge of safety precautions and procedures; ability to react calmly in emergencies and to consider residents’ comfort, safety, security and belongings.
- Knowledge of general vehicle maintenance.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written in English.
- Genuine compassion for elderly and disabled and ability to interact with residents in a pleasant and professional manner.
- Knowledge of lifting techniques, first aid, etc.
Pay range: $16.06 - $19.27 per hour
