Chicago Branch - Driver - Class A
Wismettac Asian Foods, Inc.

Responsibilities
  • Drive delivery trucks (26,000+ pounds) in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Deliver products across established routes/territory.
  • Load or unload merchandise, including items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with customers.
  • Provide a positive company representation by demonstrating safe driving practices.
  • Perform interstate driving, when required.
  • Maneuver the vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations (heavy traffic, inclement weather, tight loading dock areas).
  • Conduct pre‑trip, in‑route, and post‑trip equipment inspections and report defects immediately.
  • Keep the tractor interior clean and orderly.
  • Report accidents, delays, or irregularities promptly.
  • Submit all paperwork and documents required by the Federal DOT and Wismettac.
  • Collect and turn in receipts, payments, and delivery records.
  • Follow Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Section 111 and Sanitary Transportation guidelines.
  • Assist in loading trucks and arranging items for efficient delivery.
  • Perform other warehouse duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license (Class

    A) and a current CDL.
  • 1‑2 years of previous delivery vehicle driving experience preferred.
  • Experience using a forklift and an electric pallet jack.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Strong customer service orientation and the desire to represent the company professionally.
  • Knowledge of traffic rules, DOT regulations, hours‑of‑service, and safe driving practices.
  • Capacity to load/unload 50‑pound items and perform routine physical tasks (bend, lift, reach).
  • Proficiency with electronic logbooks and tablet computer systems.
Working Conditions

Trucks may be long‑haul requiring 11‑hour drives and up to 14 hours of work per day after 10 hours off‑duty. Drivers may operate without a home for 2‑4 days, traveling nights, holidays, and weekends. The job can involve heat, cold, dust, and other environmental irritants. Shift times may start late at night or early in the morning. Typical workweek Monday‑Friday, but evening and weekend hours are common.
