Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Manufacturing Engineer

This position is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing equipment, as well as improving plant throughput, profitability, stability, reliability, and safety. This includes leading reliability and performance improvements, managing expenses and capital projects, supporting maintenance efforts, and enhancing work processes and procedures.
Roles & Responsibilities• Support and participate in safety programs
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment issues (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, compressors, gearboxes, blowers, boilers, PLCs, pumps, extruders, cooling towers)
• Investigate equipment failures to determine root causes and complete findings
• Lead or participate in reliability improvement teams
• Assist in developing maintenance budgets and spending plans
• Provide technical specifications for equipment design, inspection, and repair
• Support spare parts management and preventive maintenance
• Plan major machinery overhauls and equipment replacements
• Maintain site systems and procedures aligned with corporate standards
• Provide technical training, documentation, and standards development
• Develop opportunities for capital projects
• Support capital project execution
• Ensure compliance with company standards and policies
• Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and other departments
• Mentor and train engineers, specialists, and technicians
• Perform other assigned duties related to Maintenance & Reliability Engineering
Note:
Hours may exceed 40 hours per week; on-call work may be required.
- At least five years of maintenance or reliability experience in manufacturing
- Willingness to work additional hours and be on-call
- Strong leadership, ethics, teamwork, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ERP systems (preferably SAP), and PM functions
- Knowledge of operating processes, equipment, and materials
- Experience with electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic equipment, PLCs, gearboxes, motors
- Commitment to safety and ethical business practices
- Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Clear oral and written communication skills
- Basic project management and root cause analysis skills
- Experience with compounding machinery, extruders, or Buss Kneaders
