Quality Control Technician conducts high-quality lab work under direction, reporting results to supervisors. Their work supports production development, commercialization, and troubleshooting, covering all stages from initial formulation to market introduction. Daily tasks include sample preparation, material evaluation, physical property testing, and equipment maintenance. The role requires accurate technique, keen observation, strong organization, and clear communication. The scope of the job varies depending on product line size and number of other technicians.

Responsibilities
  • 1. Safety: Wear appropriate PPE always in the laboratory/plant/retain room.
  • a. Report any unsafe conditions to the Team Manager or technical Manager immediately.
  • b. Attend/participate in all shift Safety Trainings and Huddles.
  • 2. Maintain housekeeping in lab and retain areas. Clean up small resin spills immediately.
  • 3. Test in-process, finished product, shipping, and raw material samples and communicate results to.
  • 4. Enter quality data into SAP and log data on QC cards for back-up reference.
  • 5. Communicate any quality results trends to the Unit Lead and the Technical Manager.
  • 6. Make and analyze tests blends, compatibility samples, etc. as requested by production personnel.
  • 7. Perform calibration checks of all laboratory equipment as outlined in the Quality Control VCS Program.
  • 8. Understand function and be able to troubleshoot all laboratory equipment.
  • 9. Promptly alert Team Managers when there are test discrepancies or issues with the material that will impact production or shipments. Ensure that the re-sampling process has been followed in a timely manner.
  • 10. Inspect operating areas/equipment for procedure compliance and general housekeeping.
  • 11. Ensure all retains are properly labeled, lids are on tight and are properly stored.
  • 12. Ensure the sample retain area is clean and current.
  • 13. Complete all Routine Job Tasks.
  • 14. Complete all job associated paperwork in a timely manner.
  • a. Dispose of all excess/obsolete reagents and sample wastes appropriately.
  • b. Dispose of all hazardous wastes appropriately.
  • c. Ensure HAZWASTE containers in the laboratory and Retain Room are properly labeled and maintained.
  • a. Excellent attendance record.
  • b. Willing to work overtime on a short notice.
  • c. Arrive at work 15 minutes early each day to receive turnover/communication from off-going shift.
Education and Experience
  • Excellent laboratory technique and experience.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the Hazardous Communications Standard (OSHA CFR ) and a working knowledge of lab Standard (OSHA CFR ).
