The Water Operator position entails performing semi-skilled, skilled, technical, and maintenance tasks within the Water Division of the Public Works Department. This role involves operating and maintaining the water treatment plant, water systems, and associated facilities, including the use of specialized equipment.
QualificationsThe successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and knowledge of water treatment and distribution, including the operation of pumps and associated treatment equipment. The employee is to have experience working in a Class B water facility. A Class D or higher IEPA Public Water Supply Operator certification is required.
This is a union position, covered by SEIU 73. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 am-3:00 pm. Additionally, the employee must have the ability to work overtime and respond to after-hour and weekend emergency calls on a rotating basis.
