Are you looking for more than just another engineering job or want a progressive career move in the words fasted growing industry?

Do you want to work on some of the UK's largest power generation equipment while receiving industry-leading training and clear career progression?

This is an outstanding opportunity to join one of Europe's leading power generation businesses as part of a structured 2-3 year Development Programme.

Whether you're coming from a maintenance, engineering, military or process operations background, if you're eager to learn, technically minded and looking for a long-term career, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

What's in it for you?

This isn't a role where you're expected to know everything from day one.

You'll receive structured training, mentoring and professional development, giving you the opportunity to become a fully qualified professional working on critical power generation assets.

Training includes internal and external courses and qualifications:

The Role

Working across both the Kilroot and Ballylumford power stations, you'll be responsible for the safe operation, monitoring and control of power generation equipment, helping ensure electricity is produced safely, efficiently and reliably.

Working alongside experienced Operations Engineers and Shift Team Leaders, you'll learn how to:

  • Operate and monitor gas turbines, steam turbines and generators
  • Carry out routine plant inspections and identify equipment defects
  • Assist with plant start-ups, shutdowns and operational changeovers
  • Isolate plant safely for maintenance activities
  • Monitor plant performance and respond to operational issues
  • Work closely with Engineering and Maintenance teams to maximise plant availability
  • Maintain accurate operational records and reports
  • Develop the technical knowledge required to become an Authorised Person

As your training progresses, you'll take on increasing levels of responsibility and become a key member of the Operations team.

The company is far more interested in attitude than ticking every technical box.

You'll be someone who is:

  • Passionate about engineering and their industry
  • Keen to learn and develop
  • Self-motivated with plenty of initiative
  • Looking to build a long-term career
  • Comfortable taking on responsibility
  • A strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Calm under pressure with a logical approach to problem solving

You'll ideally have:

  • A recognised engineering apprenticeship
  • An engineering or trade background
  • Experience working within maintenance, manufacturing, utilities, heavy industry, process plant, or similar environments

Applications are also welcomed from candidates leaving the Armed Forces, particularly those with engineering or technical experience.

Salary & Benefits
  • £33,000 - £43,000 basic during the development programme (Grade 13)
  • Progression to £39,000 - £51,000 upon successful completion (Grade 14)
  • Shift allowance worth approximately £8,000 per year
  • Structured training and development programme
  • Professional qualifications fully supported
  • Clear long-term career progression
  • Opportunity to work on critical UK power generation assets

You'll initially complete your training on a daytime-based rota before progressing onto the operational shift pattern, which includes a combination of days, nights and afternoons.
