Working hours:
Minimum of 10 hrs per week (with possible increase in line with Centre bookings). With an hourly rate of £13.26 per hour. A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a vehicle OR have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post.
Job Purpose:
You will be responsible for ensuring the community centre, both inside and out, is clean and well maintained to meet the set standards. This will also require responsibility for access to the community centre, supervising bookings, when required, and responding to requests from the public.
Essential Criteria :
Have a minimum of 3 GCSEs to include English Language and Maths (grade C or above) or equivalent qualifications to demonstrate literacy and numeracy. Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that you have 6 months (1 year if you do not meet the 3 GCSE criteria) experience in: the operation of facilities to include cleaning and security duties, dealing with members of the public and queries and working knowledge of undertaking administrative duties within a customer focused environment.
To be available to respond to callouts outside of core working hours within a reasonable time period. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal - with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative. Availability for flexible working in any Centre within the Carrickfergus area to include working evenings and weekends, as required and determined by business need.
Main
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure that all areas of the Centre, including associated facilities, are kept in a secure, clean and hygienic condition and complete cleaning schedules on a daily/weekly basis, including the removal of litter from the outside of the building. Use all equipment and cleaning materials in a safe and proper manner according to instructions. Maintaining adequate stock levels of cleaning materials and equipment.
Be the primary key holder for designated community centre(s). This will include ensuring that the premises are opened and secured in a timely manner. Be present on site and provide cover for bookings/activities in line with health and safety requirements. Responsible for the security of the Centre, in co-operation with management, and to control access to all parts of the buildings, including responding to all call-outs.
Respond to routine enquires by telephone or personal callers and liaise with facility user groups. Liaise closely on a range of Health and Safety regulations with the various groups and organisations using the premises. Report immediately all incidents or accidents occasioning loss or injury to any user of the premises via reporting mechanisms. Set up and take down equipment and furniture, as required for bookings, taking reasonable steps to ensure risk of misuse, damage or theft is minimised.
