Overview
CNA - Med/Surg/Peds (Hiring Bonus FT $2000, PT $1000)
This job provides direct patient care in the community and surrounding communities. Roles are flexible and purposeful, suitable for individuals who are curious, compassionate, and organized, with a positive approach to patient care for patients of all ages.
Responsibilities- Provides for patient's personal hygiene and daily living activities, including bedpan/urinal care, baths, backrubs, shampoos, shaves, meals assistance, ambulation, turning/positioning, and providing fresh water between meals.
- Administers various treatments and therapies (e.g., enemas, dressings, preps, ice/heat, sitz baths) and applies restraints as needed.
- Performs patient admissions; checks vital signs and weight; collects specimens and may perform post-mortem care; documents in EMR.
- Communicates with the professional nurse and keeps unit staff informed of patient care needs and problems.
- Notifies nurse and Unit Secretary of patient transfer and discharge times; responds promptly to call lights.
- Documents patient information related to Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and uses the EMR system for orders.
- Works effectively as part of the care delivery team and assists in orientation of new employees; maintains professional relations with staff.
- Maintains patient confidence through neat appearance and competent, caring performance; reports patient observations to the nurse for professional assessment.
- With specialized training and written approval, may perform additional unit-specific tasks; assists in patient teaching.
- Completes required CEUs and maintains active licensure if applicable; participates in performance improvement and educational activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned; complies with Corporate Compliance Policy and all relevant laws and standards; maintains safety and confidentiality.
- Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or GED; successful completion of a nursing assistant course or equivalent; has passed competency and skills tests for state registry; previous hospital experience preferred. - Position Requirements, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months of hire; ability to build caring relationships with patients and families; punctuality and reliable attendance; maintains a safe environment for patients and co-workers; transports patients/equipment as appropriate. - Language
Skills:
Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate effectively; ability to present information in one-on-one and small group settings. - Physical Demands:
Ability to stand, speak, and use hands; lift up to 50 pounds occasionally; able to perform required physical tasks with reasonable accommodations; may be exposed to infectious diseases and hazards. - Work Environment:
May be exposed to moving parts, fumes, blood borne pathogens, chemicals, and other hazards; moderate noise level. Reasonable accommodations available.
