Overview

Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager positions support Buckle’s mission to provide an enjoyable shopping experience. Responsibilities include sales, merchandising, operational tasks, recruiting, training, visual merchandise management, operations, supervisory and leadership actions.

Responsibilities Sales Generation and Guest Service
  • Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and consistently provide legendary service.
  • Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
  • Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on Guest needs.
  • Anticipate and fulfill Guest’s needs by suggesting additional items.
  • Demonstrate products, share knowledge, and use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily.
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, payment policies, and security practices.
  • Achieve personal sales‑per‑hour, average sales, and total net sales goals set by Store Management.
  • Provide legendary service throughout the store (Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, register area).
  • Operate exchange, return, and exchange procedures for Guests.
  • Support guest loyalty building (fit appointments, Buckle credit card, guest connect).
  • Seek opportunities to expand Guest selection through inventory manager, advanced product search, iPad apps, etc.
  • Build good Guest relationships to develop a client‑based business.
  • Show high levels of showmanship, excellent customer service, and attentiveness.
  • Coach and welcome feedback from Manager to improve sales presentations.
  • Plan sales goals with Store Manager.
  • Demonstrate ownership of store’s sales performance (Sales, Average sale, Business builders, Denim).
Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development
  • Recognize recruiting opportunities via Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals, and Teammate Recommend.
  • Coach and create relationships through Guest Loyalty and Guest Preferred.
  • Develop skills and motivate and educate new teammates to meet Buckle’s accountability, shift orientation, loss prevention, and sales presentation standards daily.
  • Maintain a positive attitude at all times during the floor culture.
  • Demonstrate personal dress code and coach latest fashion in all teammates and team leaders.
  • Participate effectively in daily setup, training, impacting, and reviewing while effectively utilizing the Performance Tracker.
  • Motivate teammates to initiate and complete daily tasks set by Store Management.
  • Personal passion to demonstrate, coach, and influence denim showmanship and denim fit cards through teammates and guests.
  • Execute actions from department calendars and track on the Weekly Delegation Worksheet.
  • Show leadership actions during segments and keep the guest involved with product.
  • Vocal and continuously update fellow leader and team.
  • Remember guest names and understand how to explain pay and Buckle benefits.
  • Partner with Store Manager to pick store’s education focus and help delegate and implement focus all week.
  • Assist Store Manager in recruiting all store staffing needs.
  • Execute training on Leadership playbook and SPG teammate/leader training shifts.
  • Accountability of all characteristic pieces.
  • Assertive execute actions with constantly changing sales focuses.
  • Identify and follow through on all teammate training needs.
Visual Merchandise Management
  • Own and influence product through zone ownership, achieve specific learning goals daily.
  • Execute and demonstrate all new tools and videos that apply to zone ownership.
  • Partner with Store Manager to delegate, demonstrate, and review all 4 zones.
  • Ensure Visual Standards, Visual library, and Weekly Visual Checklist throughout shift with urgency and accountability.
  • Recognize merchandising opportunities from freight to floor and life cycle of product.
  • Give informational and influential store tours.
  • Ensure sales floor is consistently sized and new freight is appropriately displayed.
  • Exhibit ability to create changes to improve store’s overall performance via Performance Tracker.
  • Foresee and anticipate changes in product and act independently to improve overall visual results.
  • Responsible for visual standards on floor and backroom.
