Surgical Physician Assistant provides patient care in all peri-operative settings through the performance of patient evaluation, assessment and treatment in the medical office/inpatient setting, as well as assisting physicians in patient surgery.

• Full-time (40 hours/week)
• Days, Monday - Friday
• One weekend call per month or 1:4 (Saturday & Sunday)
• 65% inpatient / 35% outpatient (rotating between days in the hospital and days in the clinic to provide full support in both, as well as possible outreach locations)
• Team includes 7 physicians and 3 Physician Assistants
• Patient volume: 25/week in clinic and 30-35/week in the hospital
• Highly autonomous role with support of the surgeons and APPs

• Proven knowledge of sterile technique standards
• Suturing experience
• General surgery/OR experience
• General knowledge of Da Vinci robot operations preferred
• Six months of related experience in general surgery preferred

• Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program
• Must be board certified
• Georgia licensure or ability to obtain
• Will consider a new graduate with general surgery experience

• Able to communicate effectively with medical and hospital staff and various populations in clinics and public screening events.
• Must be capable of dealing tactfully and effectively with patients, family members, other employees and physicians
• Must maintain high degree of confidentiality.
• Must meet credentialing criteria.
• Must possess the cognitive ability to understand patient medical records, physician orders and medical orders to be communicated to patient, hospital and/or other physician.
• Must possess the sense or discipline to work in accordance with accepted clinical standards.
