Job Summary
The Department of General Education at the University of West Georgia seeks a Lecturer in First‑Year Writing to begin August 1, 2026. Responsibilities include teaching four sections of English Composition courses each semester, engaging in service, and pursuing professional development activities.
LocationUniversity Campus: 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118.
Responsibilities- Teach four sections of English Composition courses each semester.
- Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and profession; primarily assist students in the Writing Center with one‑on‑one tutoring sessions.
- Pursue professional development activities focused on pedagogical skills for general education courses.
- Foster student success.
- Serve as a faculty presence on campus as needed.
- Master's Degree in English or related field.
- Experience teaching first‑year English students in a face‑to‑face modality.
- Doctorate (Ph.D.) in English or related field.
- Experience teaching in fully online or hybrid modalities.
- Experience teaching corequisite learning support.
Salary listed as commensurate with experience. The position is contingent on funding.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities- Knowledge of the scholarly field of English, specifically first‑year composition.
- Ability to teach English Composition.
Lifting up to 15 lbs; work normally performed in a typical interior office environment.
