Student Assistant - Supplemental Instruction Leader, Spring '26

Join the University of West Georgia’s Center for Academic Success as a Student Assistant – Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leader for the Spring 2026 semester.

Supplemental Instruction Leaders are student leaders who support classmates by facilitating peer study sessions for specific courses. SI Leaders are not teaching assistants; they do not conduct tutorial classes and report to the Coordinator of Supplemental Instruction.

• Attend the class that you lead.
• Conduct 2–3 SI sessions per week.
• Hold at least one office hour per week.
• Plan SI sessions in advance.
• Attend two trainings per month.

• Current University of West Georgia student enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours.
• Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, or faculty referral for the specific SI course/subject.
• Earned an A grade in the course.
• Successfully complete a background check.
• Availability for a full two‑day in‑person training before the semester begins.

• Strong faculty recommendation.
• Demonstrated academic skill, leadership, character, and effective communication.
• Positive perspective of the University of West Georgia.

• List of course(s) for which you intend to provide SI.

• In-depth knowledge of the subject material and ability to convey it to peers.
