Job Summary

This position reports to and manages the budget for the Tanner School Of Nursing, including summer school, student scholarships, grants, and foundation budgets. It also oversees all personnel functions for the TSON, including submission of hiring documents and budget amendments, and manages the Dean’s office daily operations and business matters. The role requires a credit check due to p-Card responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, plan, prepare, allocate, and verify funds for the School of Nursing annual operating budgets, personal services budgets, budget amendments, and summer school budgets, student scholarships, grants, and foundation accounts. Advise and assist the School of Nursing Dean in financial matters related to budgeting.
  • Serve as primary liaison to other administrative units within the university involving financial matters, develop and enhance financial policies, procedures, and paperwork encompassing internal accounting, databases, and control systems.
  • Analyze actual expenses; maintain systems related to budgetary control; prepare management reports, budget amendments, and financial analysis. Manage and monitor the reconciliation of general ledger accounts and approve expenditures based on available funding.
  • Manage human resources for the School of Nursing: process hiring, manage faculty records, oversee databases, track promotion/tenure dates, coordinate hiring funds, and verify credentials.
  • Coordinate and analyze funds for faculty and staff hires, track and manage all faculty and staff positions, oversee records management and retention activities, and collaborate with Human Resources and the Provost Office.
  • Conduct workshops for departmental staff on School of Nursing policies and procedures, provide information to the search committee for recruiting faculty, and assist Dean and Associate Deans with day-to-day operations and special projects.

  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree.

    Combination of education and experience acceptable. Must pass credit check for p‑Card responsibilities.
  • Required Experience: Two years budget management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Educational: Master’s degree.
  • Experience: University budgeting experience, evidence of excellent writing ability.
Proposed Salary

$59,216.00 - $65,000 Annually

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge: Understanding of accounting and budgetary rules, proficiency with Excel spreadsheets, attention to detail, organizational skills.

Knowledge of MS Office software suite, particularly Excel and Word.

Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, supervisory and social skills, strong communication, ability to work independently, and self‑management.
