Job SummaryThe Compliance Consultant is responsible for maintaining compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and permits at the plant level. This role requires a strong understanding of current environmental regulations, proactive management of compliance programs, and close collaboration with corporate teams and regulatory agencies. The ideal candidate will take a leadership role in compliance and safety initiatives, conduct self-assessments and program audits, and provide training and back-up support for various compliance programs.
KeyResponsibilities
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of environmental laws and regulations as applicable to plant operations.
Ensure compliance with all environmental permits and applicable regulations through proactive program management.
Serve as a liaison with corporate teams and regulatory agencies, ensuring appropriate notification and resolution of non-compliance incidents.
Recognize and address safety and environmental compliance issues promptly and proactively.
Lead by example in promoting a culture of compliance and safety.
Manage assigned environmental programs and Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) programs.
Conduct self-assessments and program audits to maintain ongoing regulatory compliance.
Deliver compliance training to staff and support back-up responsibilities for other compliance programs.
Participate in on-call duty rotation (nights, weekends, and holidays) for Plants Wansley and Yates.
Support regional environmental activities and compliance initiatives across multiple sites.
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Relevant professional experience in environmental compliance, regulatory affairs, or plant operations.
Strong understanding of environmental regulations, including air, water, waste, and CCR regulations.
Experience with compliance auditing, incident reporting, and regulatory notifications.
Ability to analyze regulatory documents and apply compliance strategies effectively.
Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple organizational levels.
Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple programs and priorities.
Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
Ability to handle on-call responsibilities and respond effectively during non-standard working hours.
Must be willing and able to work on-call rotations, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Flexibility to support regional activities between Plants Wansley and Yates.
Must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
