General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the store and general operations, including serving as Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening/closing the store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly environment, ensuring merchandise presentation, cleanliness, and executing company operational processes.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Understand safety as priority and practice safe behaviors.
  • Maintain awareness on sales floor to create safe environment; report unsafe conditions.
  • Responsible for building security: entrance control, EAS daily checks, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, register area.
  • Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to exits.
  • Ensure customer safety: accident prevention, reporting, emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarm systems; respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, professionalism; recognize associates via company programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represent and support the company brand; maintain professional appearance.
  • Ensure associates adhere to dress code.
  • Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, merchandised to standard.
  • Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, markdowns completed per standards.
  • Responsible for receiving merchandise trucks when needed.
  • Process all merchandise with urgency.
  • Responsible for non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of stockrooms.
  • Assist in delivering and placing merchandise on sales floor.
  • Ensure back‑stock secured and processed per policy.
  • Merchandize departments including back stock.
  • Reduce loss due to damage.
  • Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Handle floor moves, signing, promotional signing.
  • Perform re‑wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention
  • Understand and comply with Loss Prevention Awareness Program.
  • Demonstrate integrity, safeguard confidential info.
  • Maintain Public View Monitor system.
  • Conduct "Code 50" package inspections.
  • Execute company best practices and maximize productivity.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Execute best practices and maximize productivity.
  • Maintain pace and presence at front end.
  • Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage policies.
  • Control associate break schedule.
  • Ensure equipment works properly.
  • Maintain supplies and recovery.
  • Ensure go‑backs expedited, scanned, security tagged.
  • Teach "Scan and Bag" best practice.
  • Ensure salability of merchandise at front end.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintain cleanliness of fitting rooms.
  • Audit fitting room garment tags.
  • Ensure go‑back compliance; ticket, scan, security tag as needed.
Administrative Duties (as assigned by Store Manager)
  • Ensure cash pulls and bank deposits per policy.
  • Handle front end control when needed – refund approval, etc.
  • Payroll administration: punch edits, scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll, reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
