The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the store and general operations, including serving as Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening/closing the store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly environment, ensuring merchandise presentation, cleanliness, and executing company operational processes.
Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments- Understand safety as priority and practice safe behaviors.
- Maintain awareness on sales floor to create safe environment; report unsafe conditions.
- Responsible for building security: entrance control, EAS daily checks, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, register area.
- Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to exits.
- Ensure customer safety: accident prevention, reporting, emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems; respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, professionalism; recognize associates via company programs.
- Represent and support the company brand; maintain professional appearance.
- Ensure associates adhere to dress code.
- Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, merchandised to standard.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
- Ensure recovery, sizing, markdowns completed per standards.
- Responsible for receiving merchandise trucks when needed.
- Process all merchandise with urgency.
- Responsible for non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of stockrooms.
- Assist in delivering and placing merchandise on sales floor.
- Ensure back‑stock secured and processed per policy.
- Merchandize departments including back stock.
- Reduce loss due to damage.
- Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines.
- Handle floor moves, signing, promotional signing.
- Perform re‑wraps as needed.
- Understand and comply with Loss Prevention Awareness Program.
- Demonstrate integrity, safeguard confidential info.
- Maintain Public View Monitor system.
- Conduct "Code 50" package inspections.
- Execute company best practices and maximize productivity.

- Control associate break schedule.

- Ensure salability of merchandise at front end.
- Maintain cleanliness of fitting rooms.
- Audit fitting room garment tags.
- Ensure go‑back compliance; ticket, scan, security tag as needed.
- Ensure cash pulls and bank deposits per policy.
- Handle front end control when needed – refund approval, etc.
- Payroll administration: punch edits, scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll, reporting.
