Maintenance Trainer Overview

  • Adhere to all safety, USDA, HACCP, and the plane rules and regulations.
  • Construct, maintain and test mechanical equipment, machinery and components.
  • Identify parts or machines needing new or replacement parts.
  • Utilize shop mathematics to complete assignments.
  • Interpret drawings of equipment in order to properly adjust, maintain or repair the machinery.
  • Respond to requests by production area when mechanical issues with equipment have been identified.
  • Communicate with production management and personnel to diagnose problems and to determine potential mechanical problems.
  • Performs preventative maintenance.
  • Complete assigned tasks with accuracy and efficiency, in regards to time as well as resources.
  • Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs complex systems and equipment in one or more areas of assignment such as irrigation systems, vehicles and heavy equipment, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems, filtration systems.
  • Maintains records of installation, maintenance and repair orders to track activities ensuring work is documented and on file; prepares status reports for projects.
  • Coordinates projects related to installation, maintenance and repair work within area of assigned duties including planning and scheduling work and equipment;
    May provide project lead direction to staff in technical areas of assignment.
  • Inventories and orders supplies, parts, equipment and materials for projects and programs including determining appropriate supplies and materials and locating vendors; maintains adequate supply levels and inventory controls.
  • Inspects contractor’s work and monitors underground utilities ensuring that work is in compliance with specifications, standards and time lines.
  • Responds to emergencies and call-outs as required; coordinates and monitors work of staff in areas of expertise to effect repairs and ensure the safety of the community.
  • Operates specialized equipment and vehicles in areas of specialization such as Sandiare, Baggers, Ishidas, Electrical testing devices, platform, Tomahawk.
  • Assist in electrical installation and repair, HVAC, and plumbing installation and repair.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE >

Less than high school education; 2 year of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/METHODS

All employees are required to attend employee and safety orientation prior to performing the above duties. Once the employee completes this training they will be assigned to a Supervisor who will further orient the employee to the workplace, introduce him/her to employees and other supervision, demonstrate work assignment and explain ingress and egress procedures to and from work station. A training buddy may be assigned to new employees for a period to assist in further training and indoctrination.

Those responsible for training and indoctrination may include personnel representatives, safety director, supervisors, and lead workers.

METHODO OF TRACKING EMPLOYEE PROGRESS

The supervisor is accountable for tracking employee progress and performance.

EXIT TRAINING FOR MEASURING TRAINING EFFECTIVENESS

A specific probationary period is assigned to all employees hired to evaluate employee effectiveness and performance. At the end of this period the supervisor will evaluate the job performance of each new employee utilizing current forms and procedures in effect at that time. The employee will be rated and evaluated on essential work duties listed above as well as attendance, tardiness, interaction with co-workers and management, attitudes and work actions.
