Construction Estimator

Schneider Electric is seeking a Construction Estimator to support the development and execution of complex construction and energy  this role, you will partner closely with Engineering, Project Management, Sales, Operations, Procurement, suppliers, and subcontractors to develop accurate and competitive project estimates. You will review project requirements, develop cost estimates, evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing, assess constructability, and identify key cost assumptions and risks throughout the project development process.

This is a highly collaborative role for an experienced construction professional who combines strong estimating and analytical skills with the ability to work effectively across technical, commercial, and customer-facing teams.

What will you do?

Develop Class 2 and Class 3 cost estimates for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, site, and building construction scopes.

Review plans, specifications, engineering scopes, site information, and other available project documentation to develop accurate estimates.

Prepare estimates throughout the project lifecycle, including preliminary/ROM, conceptual, estimate-grade design, and construction-level estimates.

Perform quantity take-offs, develop pricing, document assumptions and risks, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals.

Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing to support competitive and complete project estimates.

Provide constructability input, including guidance on project phasing, means and methods, and potential cost impacts.

Partner with Engineering, Operations, Sales, Procurement, and project teams throughout the estimating and project development process.

Participate in site surveys, design reviews, project handoffs, and other project development activities as needed.

Support procurement and tender activities during project development and construction.
10+ years of combined experience in construction estimating, construction, project management, or a related field.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience estimating mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and/or general construction scopes.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements.

Strong understanding of construction principles, estimating practices, constructability, and subcontractor/vendor pricing.

Ability to develop estimates from varying levels of project scope and design detail.

Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across technical, commercial, and project teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with retrofit MEP, energy efficiency, Design/Build, or Job Order Contracting projects.

Knowledge of electrical infrastructure, including low- and medium-voltage distribution, power generation, renewable energy, industrial, and/or mechanical systems.

Familiarity with civil construction associated with electrical installations, including concrete, duct banks, excavation, underground installations, and site preparation.

Experience with estimating technology, advanced applications, or AI-enabled tools is a plus.
