Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned, helping them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth and enabling them to develop competencies and skills for society.
Qualifications- Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas Certificate in Teaching area and/or such other credentials as may be required
- By the State Board of Educator Certification for this position
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Willing to obtain ESL Certification within six months of start of school (preferred)
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- At least one year of student teaching or an approved internship (preferred)
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the district's curriculum program
- Prepare lessons with accommodations for differing learning styles
- Present subject matter per Texas Education Agency guidelines
- Use appropriate instructional strategies, materials, and technology
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed
- Plan and supervise teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s)
- Use technology to strengthen teaching/learning processes
- Help students improve study methods and habits
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning
- Manage student behavior per code of conduct
- Maintain open communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers
- Participate in staff development activities
- Compile and maintain required reports and records
Personal computer and standard instructional equipment; prolonged standing; frequent walking; regular light lifting; exposure to noise; may work inside and outside.
