Description

Bryant Consultants, an Aperture company, is seeking a part-time to full-time Staff Engineer, with specialized experience in structural engineering, to join our Insurance Services Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in site observations and data collection, structural evaluations, interviewing property owners and/or their representatives, and technical report writing.

In this role, you’ll conduct investigations, assess structural conditions, and provide detailed documentation to support forensic (primarily insurance) cases. If you’re excited by complex, investigative projects, enjoy applying your expertise to real-world challenges, and want to grow within a collaborative, knowledge-driven team, we invite you to join us and work alongside some of the top engineering professionals in the industry.

Our insurance clients ask us to investigate matters and provide reports which aid them in coverage decisions for their policyholders. Common examples of these investigation requests include foundation claims, moisture investigations, useful remaining portions of residential and commercial structures after a loss event, vehicle or storm damage to structures, explosions, retaining wall failures, etc.

Essential Functions
  • Engineering analyses related to a variety of projects include, but not limited to, commercial and residential buildings, retaining walls, flatwork, towers, reinforced slopes, bridges, drainage ways, and any other structurally related projects.
  • Evaluate data from engineering reports and documents, construction plans and documentation, municipal records, site photographs and field notes, deposition transcripts, and various other court proceedings to form conclusions.
  • Review supplied file information, perform in-town and out-of-town inspections (including crawlspaces, attics, roofs, etc.), conduct interviews, draw floor plans, document site-specific and environmental variables, take relative elevation foundation and/or topographical measurements, obtain photographic support (with voice annotations), and document any other relevant information.
  • Communicate with clients about project details during the project life cycle and document all correspondence.
  • Assist with other forensic investigations in determining cause-and-origin of damages, construction defects, structural failures, water intrusion, and building envelope deficiencies.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering design documents.
